CITY SKIN

The ‘CITY SKIN’ Project focuses on reinterpretation of the ‘most common things’ found in our build environment, Modern City. Architecture is surrounding all of us, especially building exteriors, which can be called the smallest cell of our environment. This basic unit that can grasp essence of the ‘CITY SKIN’.

Things that are ordinary and familiar have always surrounded us, Through the objectification process of our pre-existing ideas, we rediscover those familiar and ordinary objects again. Perhaps they do represent our identity.

‘CITY SKIN’ 프로젝트는 우리가 일반적으로 속해 있는 환경, 즉 도시를 대상으로 ‘가장 보통의 존재’를 찾고 재가공하여 새로운 의미를 부여한다. 도시에서 우리를 둘러 싸고 있는 건축물, 그 중에서도 건축의 표피라고 할 수 있는 건축 외장재는 도시를 표면적으로 파악할 수 있는 가장 기초적인 단위라 할 수 있으며, 도시의 ‘가장 보통의 존재’ 라고 할 수 있을 것이다. ‘가장 보통의 존재’들은 아주 평범하고 익숙한 모습으로 우리 삶 주변에 늘 존재해 왔다. 꾸밈없는 원래 그대로의 것. 어쩌면 이 특별하지 않은 ‘가장 보통의 존재’야 말로 우리의 정체성을 대변하고 대표하고 있을지도 모른다. 이 평범하고 익숙한 것을 대상화하고 재인식하는 과정은 본래 가졌던 대상의 의미를 되새겨 보는 기회를 제공한다.
